<감독 이력>

1999년 서울 출생, 한국 이름 이채영.

고등학교 시절 미국으로 건너가, 서로 다른 문화와 언어의 경계 위에서 자랐다. 예일대학교에서 문학과 역사학을 공부했고, 체코 프라하의 FAMU 영화학교에서 35mm 촬영을 익혔다. 2021년 단편 <허공>이 예일 인 할리우드 영화제에 초청되며 작품 활동을 시작했다.

현재 부산에서 한국영화아카데미 연출 전공으로 활동 중이며, 일본·미국·멕시코·한국에서 4년에 걸쳐 촬영한 장편 옴니버스 <젊음의 사계절>의 후반 작업을 진행 중이다. 이 작품은 네 개의 나라와 언어 속에서 청춘이라는 시간을 각기 다른 방식으로 해석하고자 한다.

멕시코에서 촬영한 단편 <Vain(허영)>은 미국, 푸에르토리코, 멕시코의 각종 영화제에 공식 초청되어 상영되었으며, 미국 편 <Vigil(철야)>은 시카고대학교 디아스포라 영화제에 초청되었다.

인간의 솔직한 내면을 응시하는 순간의 긴장과 흥분을 포착하는 영화를 찍고자 한다. 주요 화두는 죽음, 돈, 그리고 섹스다.

<Biography>

Haze is an international filmmaker whose work explores themes of death, sex, and money. Born in Seoul and raised in Seattle, she graduated from Yale University with a degree in Comparative Literature and History, furthering her studies in 35mm filmmaking at the FAMU Conservatory in Prague.

Haze is currently based in Busan as a directing fellow in the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA). She is in post-production on Four Seasons of Youth, an anthology feature filmed over four years across Japan, the USA, México, and Korea. The short film Vain, shot in Mexico, was officially selected and screened at film festivals in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. The U.S. film Vigil was invited to the University of Chicago Diaspora Film Festival.

Haze seeks to strip the audience to their most honest selves.
